Day 1 With George

Kyleigh had a full and wonderful day at the clinic! It was like a years worth of lessons in one day. Her horse was a bit jittery at first and being an off-the-track racehorse was probably wondering where the starting gate was at this place! One of the trainers worked with him and he was good to go.

This is George. Eight riders are in each session and Ky is closest to the right side of this picture. Soaking up George's wisdom.

 George has a reputation for being tough. Kyleigh has told me many of his quotes.Some of them are pretty funny. His expectations are high. That I love!! He's been doing this a long time and he's good at what he loves. When someone falls off he tells them to go to the hospital or get back on. I'd probably have a love/hate relationship with him. Yesterday, Rick heard him say to a 30'something lady in one of the higher classes something we've all giggled about.  It's become a favorite quote from him...'How'd you slip into this clinic? You're either dumber than a box of rocks or you don't pay attention.' She's missed the sequence several times after watching about 6 people go in front of her. Kind of funny. Kind of.

Anyway, he was very kind to Kyleigh. He told her she was gutsy! She's the only rider there who's not been to shows or competed and I told Rick in some ways I feel like we tossed her into the ocean to learn to swim.  Truth is, she has only been jumping about 9 months and taking lessons about 6 at the most but he told her with her determination and Paradise being a natural they'd be just fine. And they were. Better than fine!

UPDATE: If you're reading this please pray for Kyleigh. She woke up achy, chilling and nauseous. She got to the clinic and had to come home because she felt so badly. I know she's so disappointed. Praying she feels wonderful and can go tomorrow.
