They Just Keep Comin

The big moments we celebrate just keep coming.  Hunter was contacted by a college in the fall that he wanted to look into a bit further. We had the opportunity to twice spend the weekend in Kansas to learn more about the college. He was paired up with a baseball player and stayed the weekend on campus. He had a baseball try-out and attended class. He went to chapel and worship. Met coaches, professors and students. He ate in the cafeteria and slept in the dorms. It was an extraordinary experience for him and one that allowed him to get a feel for what would soon become part of his future. The baseball team is building, improving and growing and we believe Hunter will be a great addition as a player and a person and this place will be a part of a greater purpose.  It will be another piece of the puzzle that will one day be his story. We're excited he can go to college and also play some more baseball but our goal has never been to raise an athlete but a Godly man who will one day marry, have a family and continue the journey.

The college unapologetically teaches creationism. It is not a christian college by name alone. Christian values and God-centered lives are encouraged and nurtured and that's important to Hunter and to us. High expectations for the lifestyle are expected. Christianity is the central focus of every area of life just as we've strived to make it in our home. If/when Hunter faces a crisis of faith we are thankful to know that he'll be in a place to receive Godly wisdom and direction and not the wisdom of the world. That fellow believers will walk alongside him to fill in the gaps with truth and that he can have opportunities to do that for someone too.  We've been intentional about teaching and training Hunter to walk in God's ways in every area of his life and it's our greatest desire that Hunter deepen that walk and personal relationship with our Lord.

It's been interesting to see God's hand all over this process. He certainly has been in the details and has confirmed  in each of our hearts and minds that Hunter is right where he belongs. He will begin this new adventure in August and Rick and I are thankful that this amazing son that God entrusted to us will continue on the journey He has for him. It's going to be fun to watch.
