Addison is playing on the same soccer team as she's been on for the past two years. It's been such a great experience for her and each season the team becomes more united and competitive. She's learned a great deal and her coaches have become quite invested in this group of girls.
A few weeks ago they began training for the upcoming soccer season. One of her coaches has really been working on endurance, strength, stamina and improving their overall ability. Recently, he challenged the girls to run in a Red Cross Fun Run. It wasn't required but encouraged.
Addison began running on her own on the nights they didn't have practice to improve. Kyleigh goes with her every evening in support. Already she has shaved a few minutes off her mile time. Her goal is an 8 minute mile and then increase her distance.
Today was the Fun Run (seems like an oxymoron to me) at 7:30 a.m. In her typical nature, she got right up and ready without a complaint. She warmed up and got her packet and waited for the start. There were many people there and she finished very near the front. We didn't get an exact time but somewhere under 9 minutes. For sure, she beat her own personal best time and was pleased with her effort accomplishment! We are proud of her too!
Way to run Addison!
Before the race
Her coach finished a little before Addison did and he came and met each and every girl to run in with them to the finish line! Here she is finishing up ~
