Hay Time

Every year before July 4th the hay gets baled. We did 473 square bales and the rest will be done in round bales. Because we feed the horses hay, it's important to have square bales. What we don't need ~ we sell. Fortunately, we sold about 200 bales out of the field and that's good news because that's 200 bales we didn't have to haul and store in the barn. 

It's a family affair and I'm so thankful and proud of our kids. All four of them contribute in large and small ways and with smiles on their faces and good attitudes. We began around 5pm and finished up late in the night. The next morning the job was complete and it's nice to see an empty field and a full barn! 

The girls went out after the baling to count some bales. 

Those bales look so small from a distance but those babies are heavy!

The girls job was to stack the hay after Hunter and Rick hauled it up on the trailer!

Rick would drag bales over from time to time to make loading up a bit quicker

Headed to the next meadow to haul some more! He's such a good brother to let her drive him around.

Lexi road around in the truck with me - I got to be the driver!  I'd be worthless anywhere else.
